On Saturday 16 August 2025, Kabuki Club presented its first Kabuki Salon at the Garden Cinema in London. The event was built around Kon Ichikawa’s legendary 1963 film An Actor’s Revenge and brought together film, music, poetry and atmosphere to create a unique cultural experience.

The evening began with an ambient Japan-inspired DJ soundscape by English Garden Lounging in the Atrium Bar. This was followed by live Tsugaru shamisen music performed by Hibiki Ichikawa. Suleiman Suleiman then offered a bespoke poetic introduction, written and performed especially for the occasion, guiding the audience into the world of the film.

After the screening, guests gathered in the Garden Cinema’s Atrium Bar for a sake reception and a second DJ set by English Garden Lounging.
